Supports enterprise analytics initiatives by extracting, modeling, and analyzing healthcare and financial data to inform business and financial decision-making. Serve as a technical and analytical partner to Operational and Finance teams, delivering timely, accurate insights using modern cloud-based analytics platforms. Leverage Snowflake as primary data platform using Python and Power BI to develop scalable analytics, dashboards, and reporting solutions. Contributes to data-intensive projects that support financial performance monitoring, forecasting, cost analysis, and strategic initiatives across the organization.

What you will do:

  • Develop and maintain analytical queries, views, and data transformations using SQL and Python to support operational and financial analytics use cases.
  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports that communicate trends, performance metrics, and financial insights to business and finance stakeholders.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Budget and Actuarial teams to support financial analysis.
  • Translate business and financial questions into analytical approaches and clearly communicate findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences.
  • Develop and document repeatable analytical processes and data assets to improve efficiency, accuracy, and governance.
  • Support enterprise initiatives by contributing analytical expertise to cross-functional projects and data modernization efforts.
  • Maintain documentation of business requirements, data definitions, and analytical methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Three to five years of health data analysis, business analysis, software application, database design, and technical documentation experience.
  • Hands-on experience working with large datasets in relational or cloud-based data platforms.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets.
  • Proficiency with Snowflake, including Snowsight, SQL-based analytics, and data exploration.
  • Strong working knowledge of Python for data analysis, transformation, and automation.
  • Experience developing Power BI dashboards, reports, and semantic models for business and financial users.
  • Ability to translate technical results into actionable insights for business and finance stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Location:
BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week. Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia
