As a Senior Manager of Data Science and Analytics, you will lead a team of data analysts partnering directly with the eBay Live business unit (specifically their interactions with the Trust, Risk, and Compliance organizations) to identify opportunities, assess business impact, and translate insights into operational and strategic decisions. You will leverage advanced analytics and predictive modeling to guide marketplace decisions, helping the organization proactively manage risk while supporting growth objectives. In addition, you will help define the team's analytical roadmap, develop scalable data infrastructure and measurement frameworks, and drive operational excellence across eBay Live's Trust & Safety initiatives. Your work will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision making and delivering measurable impact across one of eBay's most innovative and rapidly evolving businesses.
What you will accomplish:
Team Leader: Lead, mentor, and assist in the development of the data science and analytics team. The role will manage a team of high-impact, motivated data scientists.
Drive Strategic Insights: Utilize strategic, operational, and analytics processes to secure agreement for long-term solutions, influencing leaders across the eBay Live organization and fostering a culture of achieving goals.
Analyze & Identify Opportunities: Conduct analysis of key issues to identify significant opportunities for improving customer experience for buyers and sellers on the eBay Live platform.
Define & Monitor Metrics: Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track the experience of users on the eBay Live platform. Monitor these metrics to understand the underlying causes of metric movements.
Accountability & Results: Define business objectives and measure progress in achieving results. Commit to goals and lead complex projects focused on enhancing customer experience, and delivering top- and bottom-line results for eBay.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with leaders in Product Management, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, and Design to integrate insights into operational strategies.
Leadership & Communication: Demonstrate ownership and deliver results, set aggressive personal and team goals, communicate effectively, and resolve issues promptly.

  • Data Analysis Expertise: Skilled in recognizing trends and implications within data to support informed decision-making.
  • Analytical Solution Design: Capable of creating solutions for complex business problems and collaborating with peers for high impact.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming (Python/R) and data querying (SQL). Advanced understanding of classification.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong creativity in solving problems.
  • Execution & Results: Relentless execution and resourcefulness, proven ability to deliver results in challenging situations.
  • Customer Advocacy: Experience in acting as the voice of the customer, synthesizing diverse views to achieve alignment.
  • Communication with Leaders: Ability to convey insights drawn from data to senior-level executives.

Additional Details
The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
$188,800 - $252,000
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employees will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
