College/Department Information
The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Job Summary
The Research Assistant will support research activities within the Department of Psychiatry and Health behavior.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
Clinical Trials Research
Assist faculty members (PIs, CO-ls, etc.) and the Research Manager in conducting new, extramurally funded clinical trials and assists in coordinating clinical trial research by preparing human assurance protocols, informed consent documents, CRFs (case report forms) and other research-related documents.
Handles submissions to the Institutional Review Board ORBNet and WIRBJ.
Data Collection & Patient Liaison
Performs data collection and entry in compliance with HIPAA, GCPs, HAC, FDA, and sponsor-required guidelines.
Serves as the patient liaison, schedule appointments, assist with exams, therapeutic procedures, and neurocognitive tests.
Study Materials
Assist in research projects; Assure that all materials needed for study visits are in place prior to the arrival of participating individuals, and collected and properly stored in secure locations at the end of visits.
Other
Attend meetings, seminars, etc., related to grant conduct and management.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
