ESSENTIAL INFORMATION
THE ROLE
The Park Planning Intern will assist the Parks Project Manager with a variety of park planning and development activities. Responsibilities include supporting planning and design efforts, reviewing construction documents and specifications, entering and maintaining project management data, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports and statistical information.
Pay Considerations
The hourly pay for this position is $15 - $19 based on education level.
Work Schedule
This position is scheduled to work up to 20 hours per week. You must be able to work varied shifts, including evenings, and weekends. Hours will not exceed 935 per calendar year. Session from August 24, 2026 - December 10, 2026.

  • Hours for this position will not exceed 935 per calendar year (see weekly hours for this position under work schedule).

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of design principles and park planning processes. Candidates should also possess the ability to review and interpret construction documents and specifications and collaborate effectively with project managers, staff, consultants, and other project team members to support successful park planning and development initiatives.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and skills necessary to assist with the planning and design of park facilities, trails, and open spaces. Ability to review and interpret project designs, plans, details, estimates, and specifications for accuracy and completeness. Ability to collect, analyze, and evaluate technical data and design documentation. Ability to read and interpret design proposals, technical drawings, schematics, and related project documents. Ability to assist with developing, reviewing, and verifying technical specifications, calculations, and project information. Strong organizational and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to collect and organize data, prepare reports, and compile statistical information. Ability to effectively communicate technical information and present data and findings in a clear and concise manner. Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, staff, consultants, and other project team members. Willingness and ability to learn and apply planning, design, and project management principles in a professional environment.
  • Current enrollment in any of the following degree programs: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university program with a major in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or a closely related field. Preference may be given to candidates with experience using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS software, or other related design and technical applications.
  • Current enrollment with a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester (undergraduate level) or 3 credit hours per semester (graduate level)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • A valid Nevada driver's license>
