Position Title
Ambulatory Optimization Manager

Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Manager of Ambulatory Clinical Optimization provides leadership in the design, implementation, adoption and optimization of the ambulatory EMR. The Manager is a member of the Ambulatory Optimization Team that supports physician and other O2 users to help drive a consistent patient experience, consistent workflow standards, and promote optimal O2 utilization. The Manager of Ambulatory Clinical Optimization manages a team of Ambulatory Optimization Staff and/or Credentialed Trainers. The Ambulatory Optimization Team will report to UKHS Ambulatory Services.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Working with the Director, build and manage the Ambulatory Optimization Team to enable fulfillment of the UKHS Ambulatory Services strategic, operations and quality goals through the effective use of technology.
  • Manage the day to day operations of the Ambulatory Optimization Team.
  • Partner with Ambulatory Operational leadership, the HITS team, Revenue Cycle, and Clinical Informatics from across UKHS to plan, coordinate, and facilitate patient-centric technology initiatives as they relate to ambulatory care services.
  • Participate in all ambulatory implementations and support efforts to improve workflow standards as well as end user adoption and proficiency with the EMR. Ensure consistent application of workflows in alignment with UKHS policies, regulatory requirements, and leading practices.
  • Work with Department Director and HITS to align future development, enhancements, and new products to continually advance capabilities in line with the Ambulatory Services strategic vision related to use, configuration, and optimization.
  • Assist in intake, prioritization, and delivery of technology requests to improve workflow standards, end user adoption, and end user proficiency.
  • Work with clinical departments to understand and manage user expectations and communication with regard to support service availability, responsiveness, and level of service.
  • Partner with data, analytics and quality resources in the development of data capture, data management and analysis to support UKHS Ambulatory Services strategic initiatives and aligning those with EMR design, use and adoption.
  • Participate in ambulatory work groups/advisory groups to provide input into the design and use of the EMR.
  • Evaluate the impact of technology on ambulatory processes and identify areas to promote use to create efficiencies for clinicians and improve quality of care and revenue compliance.
  • Participates in the hiring and corrective action processes as needed. Performs annual staff evaluations.
  • Leads the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among team members in accordance with established work flow and skill level; makes adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assignment tasks.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in clinical health care field.
  • High School Graduate
  • 3 or more years of direct ambulatory clinical care experience in relevant clinical discipline.
  • 2 or more years of people or project management supervision.
  • 1 or more years of demonstrated success in leading strategic Clinical Information Systems implementation and optimization in a complex, multi provider environment.
  • 1 or more years of experience in managing performance improvement activities, including analyzing clinical workflow processes.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Epic certification in one Epic Ambulatory application within 1 Year
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport self to various locations.

Knowledge Requirements
  • Advanced analytical and statistical skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly professional, well organized.
  • Strong knowledge of EMR or other major ambulatory clinical information systems.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical care processes across all clinical disciplines in the continuum of care and demonstrated expertise in the application of clinical technology to these processes.
  • Knowledgeable of relevant national quality, patient safety and regulatory initiatives and ability to address these at a local level.
  • Expertise with EMR design and implementation is highly desirable preferred
