Data Ops Manager information

What is a Data Ops manager?

Data Ops Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the processes, tools, and teams involved in managing and optimizing data operations within an organization. They ensure the smooth flow, quality, and accessibility of data across various platforms and departments. Their role often includes automating data pipelines, implementing data governance practices, and collaborating with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support data-driven decision making.

What are some common challenges faced by a Data Ops manager, and how can they be addressed?

Data Ops Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating across multiple teams, ensuring data quality, and managing fast-evolving data pipelines. Success in this role requires strong communication skills to align stakeholders, robust processes for monitoring data workflows, and the ability to quickly troubleshoot issues when data delivery is disrupted. Adopting automation tools and fostering a culture of continuous improvement can help Data Ops Managers maintain reliable, scalable systems while supporting organizational data needs.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Ops manager, and why are they important?

To excel as a Data Ops Manager, you need a deep understanding of data management, analytics workflows, and process automation, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools like SQL, Python, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and orchestration systems such as Apache Airflow is typically required, along with certifications in data management or cloud services. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help coordinate cross-functional teams and drive data initiatives. These competencies are crucial for ensuring data reliability, optimizing data pipelines, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Job description

About Nooks.ai:

Nooks is an applied AI lab building the Agent Workspace for GTM. We design AI agents that operate across the full sales action set, from account strategy to prospect research and outreach. Building 0→1 has never been easier, but selling at the speed of the market remains the last frontier for AI. Our mission is to 10x every seller by automating the busywork so they can focus on what humans do best: closing deals.

Today, over 1,500 customers run on Nooks, including Notion, HubSpot, Cursor, and Rippling. We’ve raised $70M+ from top VCs like Kleiner Perkins, which made its first sales-tech investment in over a decade with us. Since then, we’ve tripled ARR each year for 3 years running and grown a high-caliber team turning the art of sales into a scalable science.

About the Role:

We're looking for a Senior Marketing Ops Manager to help build the foundation for a world-class marketing operations function at Nooks.

We're looking for a systems thinker who loves solving complex problems, building reliable infrastructure, and making marketing more intelligent through automation, data, and AI.

You’ll partner closely with Demand Generation, RevOps, Sales, Data, and Product Marketing to ensure our Marketing engine is accurate, scalable, and resilient as we grow. You’ll help design the systems, processes, and measurement framework that power everything from lead routing and attribution to campaign execution and reporting.

The ideal candidate is deeply analytical, relentlessly curious, and proactive. You don't wait for something to break; you design systems that make failures visible before they become problems, and you're constantly looking for opportunities to simplify, automate, and improve.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build a scalable marketing operations foundation

    • Own the systems, processes, and operational infrastructure that power our marketing organization

    • Design scalable workflows that support a rapidly growing Marketing organization

    • Continuously improve the reliability, maintainability, and performance of our marketing systems

  • Own marketing automation

    • Build and optimize automated campaign workflows, lifecycle programs, lead management, and operational processes

    • Improve system reliability by reducing manual processes and eliminating fragile workflows

    • Identify opportunities to leverage AI to automate repetitive operational work

  • Build trusted measurement

    • Own marketing attribution, campaign measurement, and performance reporting

    • Partner with Marketing Leadership to develop durable measurement frameworks that help us understand what's working and where to invest

    • Continuously improve data quality and reporting accuracy across the funnel

  • Design resilient Marketing systems

    • Improve lead routing, enrichment, scoring, lifecycle management, and data governance

    • Build monitoring, alerts, and operational safeguards that proactively identify issues before they impact the business

    • Create systems that are observable, reliable, and easy to maintain as the business scales

  • Partner across the GTM organization

    • Collaborate closely with Demand Generation, RevOps, Sales, Data, and Marketing to improve operational efficiency

    • Translate business problems into scalable technical solutions

    • Recommend new tools, integrations, and processes that strengthen our GTM stack

  • Help shape the future of Marketing Operations

    • Evaluate new AI-powered tools and emerging technologies that can improve marketing efficiency and effectiveness

    • Continuously challenge existing processes and recommend better ways of working

    • Help build a modern, AI-first marketing operations function that becomes a competitive advantage for Nooks

What You Bring:

  • 4–7 years of experience in Marketing Operations or a similar analytical systems role at a high-growth B2B SaaS company

  • A systems thinker who enjoys solving complex operational problems and designing scalable solutions

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, diagnose root causes, and make data-driven decisions

  • Experience building and managing marketing automation, attribution, and lead management systems

  • Experience with HubSpot or similar marketing automation platforms, with the ability to think beyond any single tool

  • Strong understanding of CRM architecture, marketing technology, integrations, APIs, and data flows

  • Curiosity about AI and excitement for applying it to automate workflows, improve operations, and increase team productivity

  • A proactive mindset: you surface problems before others notice them and bring thoughtful solutions, not just observations

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams
