Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly and is looking for a Data Center Technician to join its expanding Infrastructure Operations team.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a dynamic technology company and a global leader in the data center space. The position will ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels for data center operations. This position includes computer hardware and network diagnostics, as well as physical repair

This position may also include participation in an on-call rotation. All candidates must be able to work independently and in a team. Establishing work priorities, organizational skills, effective communication and the ability to respond quickly are essential to success.

In addition to repairing computer equipment and networks, the candidate will install equipment, produce documentation, provide innovative solutions and resolve problems inside the data center. This team works in a 24/7 environment.

Calgary, AB, CAN
Balzac, AB, CAN
The successful candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian Personnel Security Clearance to the required level, as a condition of employment.
As set out in the Standard on security screening, the personnel security screening assesses an individual's reliability and loyalty to Canada. It involves:
* the collection of personal information from individuals, with their consent
* information from law enforcement, intelligence agencies and other sources
This process includes a variation of verifications based on the level required

These verifications are conducted through Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and
can include, but are not limited to:
* Verification of identity, citizenship, education, professional credentials, personal and professional references, credit check and/or criminal background check.
* Individuals may also be required to provide additional information through a security questionnaire and/or in-person/telephone security interview at the request of/conducted by PSPC.
* To obtain the requisite clearance within required timelines, applicants must have five (5) years of continuous Canadian residency and must not have lived or worked outside of Canada for more than six (6) consecutive months during that time.
Key job responsibilities
- Onsite coverage as a Team in shifts and/or weekly oncall
- Responding to high-severity events within SLAs
- Participate in Data Center power & cooling events
- Break-fix of servers and network devices
- Troubleshooting of network connections
- Coordinating and building relationships with various Data Center teams
- Interact with third party vendors & contractors
- Seeking out ways to improve yourself and the processes and systems with which you work
- Contribute to the development of other team members
