The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Data Analytics & Business Intelligence, the Senior Data Warehouse Developer is responsible for developing and optimising CHFs Data Warehouse, and associated Business Intelligence assets, ensuring optimized integration and accuracy of all organizational information assets and associated systems. The Senior Data Warehouse Developer will design, maintain the warehouse including cloud based automation, predictive modelling and infrastructure oversight.

    • Cloud-Based Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) Development & Automation
      • Design scalable architecture, optimizs performance, lead complex data modelling
      • Design complex pipelines, models, and BI assets with system level impact
      • Mobile Awareness GEOINT Environment (MAGE) Application Development & Enhancement
        • Lead the development, upgrade, and maintenance of the MAGE application, aligning with evolving business needs and ensuring seamless integration with data infrastructure
      • Infrastructure Administration & Support
        • Utilize cloud tools, automation, and analytics
        • Recommend implementing new tools and provide explanations of their benefits based on experience
      • Data Modeling & Architecture
        • Design and implement robust data models, including both logical and physical schemas, to support scalable analytics and reporting across the organization
        • Design, implement and integrate predictive analytical models with the data warehous
      • SQL Server Data Warehouse Management
        • Develop and optimize the corporate SQL Serverbased data warehouse, ensuring high performance, scalability, and data integrity
      • Data Quality & Validation
        • Identify systemic problems and suggests long-term architectural solutions with flexibility for future development, tackles advanced challenges
      • Cross-Team Collaboration
        • Build strong partnerships with the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), Data & Analytics, and other teams to resolve data quality issues, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and meet evolving reporting requirements
        • Leads end-to-end delivery of data initiatives
      • Contingency Planning & Risk Mitigation
        • Develop and maintain critical process contingency plans to safeguard data availability and continuity of reporting services
      • Performance Monitoring & Optimization
        • Continuously monitor data warehouse operations, analyze performance bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve efficiency and reliability


      Education and Experience

      The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

      • Post-secondary degree/diploma/certification in Computer Science or a related discipline
      • Equivalent experience will also be considered. Data Warehouse certifications are an asset
      • 5+ years of experience in a medium complex data warehouse environment, hands-on Data warehousing project experience and experience in full life cycle Business Intelligence development, implementation, tuning and support
      • 5+ years of experience in MS SQL Server, designing, developing, Scripting queries and data processing packages
      • Extensive experience in relational and multi-dimensional data modeling, including multiple source systems from databases and flat files, OLAP, ROLAP
      • Experience in the areas of data architecture, data warehousing, and database administration
      • Familiarity with BI tools (e.g., Qlik Sense)
      • Experience in data warehouse implementation using Azure infrastructure
      • Experience with Web application development is an asset
      • Places emphasis on client satisfaction and clearly communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical staff
      • Demonstrated ability for creativity and innovative problem solving
      • Able to multi-task in a dynamic environment, think clearly and calmly under pressure
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires flexibility and balancing of competing priorities
