Location: Remote, U.S. Based; must be willing and able to work onsite in Washington State as required
Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 20 hours/week
Compensation: $80–$100/hour, depending on experience and relevant certifications
Position Overview:
REV is seeking an experienced Data Architect to lead the design, governance, quality, and integration of enterprise data supporting a large-scale technology modernization initiative.
The Data Architect will develop data models, define data flows and lineage, establish data architecture standards, support data governance and quality, and provide architectural guidance for data storage, integration, APIs, migration, and cloud data platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
  • Define data structures, schemas, metadata standards, and data architecture patterns.
  • Document data flows, lineage, transformation rules, and dependencies.
  • Establish and enforce data naming conventions, quality standards, and stewardship practices.
  • Ensure data architecture supports operational systems, reporting, analytics, auditing, and enterprise metrics.
  • Lead design of API-based data services and secure data-sharing patterns.
  • Evaluate data storage, ingestion, transformation, processing, and management approaches.
  • Provide architectural guidance across cloud and hybrid data environments.
  • Support data migration and conversion planning, including profiling, mapping, cleansing, transformation, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Embed security, privacy, and access controls into data architecture.
  • Ensure data designs align with enterprise governance, regulatory, and security requirements.
  • Review vendor data architecture and technical deliverables.
  • Create and maintain data dictionaries, mapping documentation, lineage diagrams, and operational procedures.
  • Identify data gaps, redundancies, quality issues, and modernization opportunities.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, security architects, integration teams, developers, vendors, and business stakeholders.
  • Provide technical recommendations for complex data architecture and troubleshooting issues.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, architecture reviews, design sessions, and technical planning.
  • Mentor technical teams and support knowledge-transfer activities.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Bachelor's degree must include at least 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of computer science coursework.
  • Candidate must be able to provide documentation verifying the degree and specific computer science coursework completed if requested.
  • 7+ years of professional IT experience involving information technology analysis, data analysis, system design, development, databases, or related technical disciplines.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Data Architecture experience.
  • Strong experience developing enterprise data models, schemas, data flows, metadata, and lineage.
  • Experience with enterprise data governance, data quality, and Master Data Management concepts.
  • Experience with data integration, migration, conversion, and transformation patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience with data profiling, mapping, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with API-based data services and modern integration patterns.
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud data technologies across Azure, AWS, and/or GCP.
  • Experience with data storage, processing, ingestion, and serverless technologies.
  • Experience with modern development languages such as Java, C#, Python, and/or NodeJS.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes as they relate to data workloads.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust, encryption, authentication, authorization, privacy, and data security controls.
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Must be comfortable working as an individual 1099 Independent Contractor.
  • Must be willing and able to work onsite in Washington State as required.
  • Must be able to complete required background screening, security training, confidentiality requirements, and system-access requirements.
Preferred Certifications
One or two relevant current certifications are preferred and may be considered when determining compensation within the posted range:

Engagement Requirements:
This is a part-time, approximately 20-hour-per-week 1099 Independent Contractor engagement.
The engagement is primarily remote; however, the consultant must be willing and able to report onsite in Washington State when required by the client/program.
