This position is located in Sparks, NV and requires the candidate to be on-site five days per week. This employee will need to be located within a commutable distance to the project site.
Position Overview
The Data Center BTM Construction Manager plays a critical role in delivering Fleet's on-site power infrastructure that supports mission-critical IT operations. Reporting to the Sr. BTM Construction Manager, this role manages the construction of all behind-the-meter (BTM) systems, including medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, feeders, and supporting civil/structural work. The Construction Manager ensures safe, on-schedule, on-budget delivery and full compliance with technical, regulatory, and quality standards.
This position collaborates with internal design, engineering, commissioning, and operations teams, as well as contractors, vendors, and utilities, to ensure the facility's internal power systems reliably support hyperscale operations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
  • Manage all phases of BTM construction, including site preparation, foundations, equipment installation, civil/structural support, and system integration.
  • Coordinate preconstruction planning, constructability reviews, and sequencing for all BTM scopes.
  • Track and manage schedules, budgets, and quality metrics for behind-the-meter systems.
  • Direct daily activities of general contractors, electrical contractors, and equipment vendors.
  • Monitor construction progress and proactively identify and resolve risks.
  • Lead site meetings, inspections, and turnover activities for BTM systems.

Technical & Quality Oversight
  • Ensure proper installation and integration of medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and on-site feeders.
  • Verify compliance with design documents, NEC/NESC codes, UL standards, and local permitting requirements.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, method statements, and field changes related to BTM scopes.
  • Support commissioning, energization, and testing activities in coordination with operations and commissioning teams.
  • Maintain quality control and documentation standards through Procore or equivalent systems.

Budgeting & Contracts
  • Support BTM scope budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting.
  • Assist with RFPs, contractor selection, and review of change orders for BTM systems.
  • Identify cost, schedule, and risk mitigation opportunities throughout construction.

Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Serve as primary point of contact for BTM construction coordination between internal teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Provide regular progress updates, risk assessments, and milestone reporting to leadership.
  • Ensure coordination between construction, commissioning, and operations for safe and reliable energization.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and safety on-site.

Risk, Safety, and Compliance
  • Ensure strict adherence to environmental, health, and electrical safety standards, including medium-voltage and UPS safety protocols.
  • Support risk mitigation for equipment delivery, site conditions, and commissioning readiness.
  • Assist with permitting, inspections, and regulatory compliance for BTM systems.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience managing construction of electrical power systems or mission-critical facility power infrastructure.
  • 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • 3+ years of experience with medium-voltage switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, and supporting civil/structural works.
  • 3+ years of experience with Procore and Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing BTM or internal facility electrical projects at hyperscale or mission-critical data centers.
  • Strong understanding of medium-voltage construction, commissioning, and energization.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter, comfortable on fast-paced, on-site construction projects.

Expected Salary Range: $100,000 - $150,000 Base Salary + Discretionary Bonus
