What will you be doing in this role:

The Epic Beaker Analyst provides operational and laboratory information system (LIS)/application support, build, and maintenance, particularly for Epic Beaker, Epic orders, and Data Innovations Instrument Manager middleware.  Also supports integration to Epic Beaker with ancillary applications such as point of care (POC) and blood gas systems. Completes assignments to meet customer goals and desired outcomes. Provides analysis for requests and completes assignments/projects independently under the direction of senior analysts and the Team Lead.

  • Participates in the support, maintenance, build, testing, and upgrades of Epic Beaker, Data Innovations middleware, and interfaces.
  • Possesses operational knowledge of the clinical laboratories.
  • Participates in optimization of laboratory operational workflow processes with end-users/business owners.
  • Performs analysis, build, testing, validation, documentation, and implementation of assignments/projects.
  • Translate requirements/concepts into system specifications and configuration requirements.
  • Interacts with operational end-users, EIS, system, and support vendors as needed. 
  • Ensures the research and documentation of project requirements, test plans, testing, and validation is completed.
  • Provides training to team members as needed based on testing/troubleshooting documentation as well as updates knowledge base articles and policies/procedures.
  • Provides on-call support during off hours.

Experience Requirements:

Two (2) plus years of experience working with testing/building/implementing Epic Beaker workflows.

Data Innovations Instrument Manager build/support, implementation of lab applications, and lab-specific upgrade activities strongly preferred.

Clinical laboratory operations workflow, Clinical Pathology, Anatomic Pathology, Point of Care, and Blood Gas knowledge/experience strongly preferred.

Ability to balance multiple projects.

Solves problems effectively and provides recommendations.

Educational/Certification Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED required.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare, or related field. (preferred) 

Epic Beaker Certification required. (AP and CP preferred)

  • Performs intermediate level design, build and implementation assignments/ projects. Based on core knowledge of application and operational requirements can translate requirement/concepts into functionality.
  • May initiate, facilitate or lead meetings with end-user/business owner and other EIS teams.
  • Demonstrates independence and participation in team projects: translating customer needs, meeting deliverables, status reporting, and managing customer relationships and expectations.
  • Assigned to various work/projects and demonstrates an ability to successfully complete assigned tasks/assignments, proactively communicate with manager to prioritize workflow and mitigate risks, track issues and provide solution oriented escalation, and understand project management methodologies.
  • Demonstrates collaboration within and across application teams and will escalate work issues to Team Lead or Manager as needed.
  • Participates in re-engineering of operational work-flow processes with end-users/business owners, and maintains working level understanding of assigned departmental operations.
  • Facilitates end-user/business owner needs into system specifications and configuration requirements.
  • Demonstrates technical proficiency in assigned application area. Independently manages navigation of migration paths, change control process/governance, and ticket management processes.
  • Provides high-level understanding of design integration and touch points with other Epic modules and/or other applications.
  • Represents application team on work groups within the department or within project scope.
  • Attends and represents unit on various Epic related committees (CAB, CHOCC, LOCC).
  • Maintains high standards for quality application design, build, testing, and other tasks; ensures adequate documentation is provided for support and end-user training. Manage and coordinate intermediate to advanced configuration and build assignments/projects in collaboration with others.
  • As needed, participates in new employee interviews, onboarding, and training of new/junior team members.
