Job description

Save the Children

The Role

As the Lead Associate, Data Analyst, you’ll be integral to our work in helping vulnerable children achieve a brighter future. You will help to develop and advise on Business Operations and Shared Services (BOSS) dashboards and reports, automate processes, and establish data controls. The position emphasizes the significance of clean information and ensures that underlying data supports reporting needs, is understood, and is used consistently. This position will also support various projects for the BOSS technology portfolio.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Build Dashboards, Reports, and Automate Processes (50%)

  •  Maintain and enhance existing dashboards by collaborating with business partners to understand reporting needs, prioritize requests, and implement data-driven improvements.
  •  Develop and maintain a data dictionary that clearly documents and defines key metrics, data sources, and calculation methodologies to promote consistency and transparency.
  •  Partner with the Data Infrastructure team to define reporting requirements and data models to shape self-service analytics.
  •  Review and analyze existing reports to ensure alignment in metric definitions, improve data accuracy, and identify opportunities to consolidate or retire redundant reports.
  •  Conduct audits of existing reports and distribution lists to verify appropriate access, ensure compliance with data privacy and confidentiality requirements, and support responsible data governance.
  •  Maintain existing automations and develop additional process automation required for automated reporting and dashboard updates.

Data Analysis (25%) 

  •  Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and insights, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations to support workforce and business decisions.
  •  Respond to ad hoc data requests by preparing clear summaries and visualizations that accurately describe the requested data, highlight key takeaways, and support informed decision 
  •  Support data literacy efforts by helping business partners and other employees understand how to interpret, use, and apply data appropriately in compliance with established definitions, privacy standards, and reporting guidelines.

Data Stewardship (25%) 

  •  Support data stewardship practices by helping to document data ownership, data definitions, and usage standards to promote data quality, consistency, and accountability.
  •  Assist in monitoring data quality and integrity by identifying data issues, escalating discrepancies, and partnering with system owners to support remediation efforts.
  •  Partner with the Data Governance team to define and enforce BOSS data standards.

Required qualifications for the role

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Foundational experience working with data reporting and visualization through internships, academic projects, or entrylevel professional roles.
  • Basic understanding of data concepts such as data governance, data quality, metrics, and reporting standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document processes and explain data clearly to nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate with crossfunctional teams in a fastpaced environment.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite, including Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, basic data validation) and comfort working with structured datasets
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred qualifications for the role

  • Experience creating, maintaining, or enhancing dashboards and reports using Power BI (or similar program), including data modeling, basic measures, and report publishing/sharing.
  • Familiarity with HR and IT Operations analytics concepts and common HR metrics (e.g., headcount, turnover, time to fill, retention metrics).
  • Experience or familiarity with HR and IT systems (e.g., HRIS, recruiting, learning, or performance systems) or a demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Experience supporting data governance or stewardship activities such as metric definition, data documentation, or data quality reviews.
  • Ability to translate business questions into reporting requirements and present insights in a clear, userfriendly manner.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:

  • Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $72,250 - $80,750 base salary  
  • Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $65,450 - $73,150 base salary  
  • Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $59,500 - $66,500 base salary  

The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record. Actual base salary may vary based on, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here).
