While the Director sets the high-level strategy, the Manager establishes the technical workflows, security-first protocols, and relationships with end users to ensure data products meet functional requirements and rigorous organizational standards.
The Manager will optimize data infrastructure to maintain high-quality, timely data as a single source of truth, while assembling scalable data products to improve SSHCO's function and growth. This position balances urgent data requests with long-term technical priorities. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for fostering a culture of collaboration and technical discipline within the team, ensuring staff are supported, mentored, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with end users and partners to define specific data needs and translate them into actionable technical requirements.
  • Provide direct supervision and technical mentorship to the data infrastructure and analytics team.
  • Implement and document foundational security controls and data handling protocols to ensure audit-readiness and compliance with industry-standard security frameworks.
  • Establish and monitor data quality and integrity protocols, ensuring that all data products meet the rigorous standards required for internal and external validation.
  • Cultivate a trusting, accountable internal team culture that encourages agile problem-solving and operational excellence.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to users, regardless of their data background.
  • Oversee the daily acquisition, cleaning, and transforming of data from various sources using programming, statistical, and analytical tools.
  • Lead the technical migration of data warehousing and reporting assets from external vendors to internal proprietary environments.
  • Collaborate with IT and Security teams to validate technical safeguards, such as Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and encryption, within the data ecosystem.
  • Engage stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle to ensure dashboards and datasets meet operational needs.
  • Transform diverse data sources into user-friendly products to track key clinical and business trends.
  • Maintain data warehousing and visualization standards to ensure accurate reporting for organizational leadership and stakeholders.
  • Stay current on emerging advancements in data science and infrastructure for best practices to maintain an efficient data stack.
  • Please note this description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of this position. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and experience implementing technical controls and access models within a healthcare environment.
  • Strong experience in technical documentation and the ability to maintain the rigorous evidence required for compliance and certification audits.
  • History of building teams with a culture of operational excellence and collaboration.
  • Deep understanding of clinical documentation and healthcare data, including medical/billing data and payer contract analysis.

  • Proven experience managing Protected Health Information (PHI) within the Microsoft Azure/Power BI ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
