Job description

No Relocation Assistance Offered
Job Number #175162 - Piscataway, New Jersey, United States
Who We Are
Colgate-Palmolive Company is a global consumer products company operating in over 200 countries specializing in Oral Care, Personal Care, Home Care, Skin Care, and Pet Nutrition. Our products are trusted in more households than any other brand in the world, making us a household name!
Join Colgate-Palmolive, a caring, innovative growth company reimagining a healthier future for people, their pets, and our planet. Guided by our core values-Caring, Inclusive, and Courageous-we foster a culture that inspires our people to achieve common goals. Together, let's build a brighter, healthier future for all.
Role Summary
As the Manager: Data Governance, you are the bridge between data policy and daily operations. Your mission is to move data governance from a set of theoretical guidelines into a living, breathing part of the company's DNA. You will lead a data transformation program that instills data ownership, data stewardship, and key data governance disciplines, ensuring that business domains don't just "comply" with data rules but actually recognize their value on the path towards making CP's data AI Ready. Without activation, data governance is just "shelf-ware." You are the catalyst that ensures the organization's data is trusted, discoverable, and usable, directly impacting the success of strategic AI and Analytics initiatives.
Responsibilities:
  • Operationalize the Framework: Translate high-level data governance policies and standards into actionable processes and workflows for business and technical teams.
  • Stewardship Leadership: Manage a network of Data Stewards across the organization, providing them with the tools and motivation to maintain high-quality data. Build out a community of practitioners to mature the data governance best practices.
  • Value Creation From Data Initiatives: Drive adoption of a strategic intake process to identify data use cases that solve business challenges and articulate the resulting business values. Ensure each use case contains detailed business context along with high-level data requirements that can be mapped to potential data product priority and roadmap in collaboration with domain teams.
  • Tool Adoption: Oversee the implementation and day-to-day use of various data governance solutions (i.e. Data Catalog, Data Quality/ Data Observability, Data Security, etc.) to ensure data is discoverable, trusted and secured as a "source of truth" rather than just a mere repository for documentation.
  • Analytics & AI Data Readiness & Enablement: Partner closely with cross functional teams to define and enforce the data standards, quality checks, and metadata enrichment necessary to produce trusted, clean, and scalable data products that will fuel CP's most strategic AI and Analytics capabilities.
  • Change Management: Act as the primary advocate for a "Data-First" culture. This involves creating communication plans, training, and feedback loops to help the organization understand and adapt to key data governance concepts and overcome resistance. Collaborate with domain teams to embed data governance deliverables into data delivery efforts.
  • Metric Development: Define and track "Activation KPIs"-going beyond just data quality scores to measure user adoption, metadata completeness, and the speed of data issue resolution, etc.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Work closely with business and IT stakeholders, including domain and divisional business teams , analytics teams, data delivery teams, platform team and data privacy, legal and CISO team, to ensure data governance supports-rather than hinders-business agility.

Required Qualifications:
Completed Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of work experience in large data transformation programs focusing on data governance and data quality

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven ability to manage multiple business stakeholders, including effectively engaging and aligning with enterprise senior leadership to drive data governance initiatives and strategies in line with the overall organizational goals.
  • Ability to influence without authority and drive change adoption for data governance framework, processes and supporting tools
  • Ability to break down complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders, with strong business acumen and domain knowledge (e.g. Customer Development/Sales) in CPG industry
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high quality data
  • Experience with data catalog and data quality platform such as Atlan, BigID, Collibra, Informatica, Talend, SAP, DQLabs, Monte Carlo or a similar solution required
  • Extensive knowledge of data management and data governance principles, implementations and latest industry trends.
