Data Governance Engineer, Lead
The Opportunity:
Are you looking for an opportunity to combine your technical skills with big picture thinking to make an impact on national security? You understand your customer's environment and how to develop the right solutions for their mission. Your ability to translate real-world needs into technical specifications makes you an integral part of delivering a customer-focused engineering solution.
As a Data Governance System Engineer on our team, you have the chance to shape the evolution of mission data governance by leading modernization efforts for the client's enterprise data flow team. Your customer will trust you to provide Tier 1 operations support for customer data flow requests, specify data handling and usage requirements for new data flows, define and harden data schemas, determine metadata tagging to support data interoperability. You will coordinate with data flow service providers, and define processes, business rules, and functional requirements for mission systems that support effective data governance. You will work closely with customers and stakeholders across a variety of roles and teams to plan and implement dataflows supporting critical cyber missions. On our team, you'll be able to broaden your skill set into areas like cross-domain technologies and concepts, data handling and tagging, data schema development and validation. You will integrate the use of AI tools to develop schemas and modernize data governance processes. Grow your skills by merging system engineering and mission data governance to create modernized processes and systems supporting enterprise data flow for a national security client. You Have:
  • 15+ years of experience working on contracts for the federal government
  • Experience with data flow, Apache NiFi, or mission systems
  • Experience defining and applying data tagging and handling requirements
  • Experience analyzing and defining data schemas and data processing requirements
  • Experience developing capability level and functional requirements, mission scenarios, use cases, or business processes for automation
  • Knowledge of data governance concepts, such as data provenance, classification, sizing, retention, data sharing, and marking
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT Engineering field and 15+ years of experience with systems engineering, or 20+ years of experience with systems engineering in lieu of a degree

  • Experience with XKYS
  • Experience defining requirements, architecture, or design elements for systems or software that deal with data exchange, interfaces, or APIs
  • Experience with scripting or coding in Python, JSON, XML, or JavaScript
  • Knowledge of signals intelligence (SIGINT) or cyber data discovery and analysis methods
  • Knowledge of cross-domain technologies, concepts, or policies
  • Knowledge of DoD agency policies and directives as they apply to IT SIGINT collection, dataflow, and information sharing with internal and external partners
  • Knowledge of DoD or IC data formats and legal authorities for mission data

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $225,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
