Senior Data Engineer
18-Month Project Engagement
Hybrid – 3 days per week | Malvern, PA or Wilmington, DE Location

Our client, a leading regional financial services organization, is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a large-scale enterprise data modernization initiative. This strategic program is focused on migrating critical enterprise data assets into a centralized Snowflake platform to improve analytics, reporting, governance, and business decision-making.

The selected consultant will join a multi-year transformation effort working within an Agile environment and will play a key role in designing, developing, testing, governing, and supporting enterprise data solutions. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to major cloud migration and data modernization initiatives that will impact the organization's future-state data architecture.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze source systems, legacy databases, and existing data architectures.
  • Design and implement Snowflake database structures, schemas, and data models.
  • Migrate enterprise data assets from multiple source systems into Snowflake.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain ETL/ELT processes using SSIS and related technologies.
  • Develop and optimize scalable data pipelines, ingestion processes, and transformation workflows.
  • Support Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Create reusable frameworks, standards, and methodologies for data integration and movement.
  • Develop SQL and Python-based solutions supporting enterprise data initiatives.
  • Build reporting datasets, data marts, and analytical data structures.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to support reporting and analytics requirements.
  • Validate data integrations, transformations, and reporting accuracy.
  • Support enterprise data governance, metadata management, and data quality initiatives.
  • Improve data lineage, consistency, retention, and integrity across data assets.
  • Participate in testing, reconciliation, defect remediation, QA, UAT, and production release activities.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation including data mappings, architecture diagrams, lineage documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in knowledge transfer activities and promote engineering best practices.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Financial services, banking, or other regulated industry experience.
  • Python scripting and automation.
  • Microsoft Purview or similar data governance tools.
  • Master Data Management (MDM) experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise cloud migration and data modernization initiatives.
  • Source-to-target mapping and data lineage analysis experience.

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Management.
  • Strong experience designing and developing solutions within Snowflake.
  • Advanced SQL development skills.
  • Experience with SSIS and enterprise ETL development.
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration solutions.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), CI/CD pipelines, and release management.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and database architecture.
  • Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience working within Agile software development methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
