A Typical Day in the Life:  
As a tax intern, you will work alongside Honkamp team members by applying the skills learned in the classroom to real-world, business-impacting projects and provide tax proficiency to your assigned section.  
Responsibilities may include:
  • Effectively document work.
  • Prep level 3 and 4 returns.
  • Develop an understanding of tax process, becoming efficient in scan/assembly/verification procedures.
  • Develop an understanding of basic income tax returns and various tax extensions and deadlines.
  • Assisting with data entry and maintaining tax-related records.
  • Assist in administrative functions.
  • Become familiar with various scan, tax, workflow, verification, and other software.
  • Act as an ambassador to the universities.

Qualifications: 
  • No prior experience or training required -- candidates should be pursuing a degree in an accounting-related field.

  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication and problem-solving.
  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer and ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods (e.g. sitting at a desk).
  • Ability to work in a shared office environment with moderate noise levels.
