POSITION: Data Entry Specialist (Clinic) – Health Services


REPORTS TO: Director of Nursing and Clinical Services

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Verifies patient information and insurance information for insurance claim reimbursement. Performs quality control functions for input and output data. Maintains statistics as mandated by DPH for grant reporting.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately enters data daily from medical providers, school nurses, and dental providers into School Based Health Center (SBHC) database
  • Verifies patient/student information and insurance information for insurance claim reimbursement
  • Maintains statistics as mandated by DPH for grant reporting. 
  • Advises clinic staff on billing procedures and any changes to ICD-10 coding when needed. 
  • Updates student demographics in our SBHC database
  • Updates student vaccination history into our SBHC database
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff

·       Maintains clinic patients’ charts in accordance with established medical charting procedures.

·       Operates data devices, including display and printing terminals.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

·       High school diploma or GED Equivalent.

·       Two or more years’ experience in database operations.

·       Proficiency in computer software: current Windows environment, Excel, Word, Access.

·       Knowledge of current medical / dental coding highly desirable.

·       Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and other personnel.

·       Experience and knowledge of patient demographic and insurance information for insurance claim process is strongly desired.

·       Experience with medical charting desirable.

·       Certification as medical coder strongly preferred.

·       Candidate must successfully complete testing requirements.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Ten-month work year. Grid 100-10 (Salary $37,200 - $51,909)
