Job description

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for inspecting, measuring, and verifying that all imported goods such as drop cloths, plastics, strainers, and related materials meet company and customer quality standards. This role also ensures that converted paper products meet product specifications, inspects returned goods to determine quality compliance, and supports continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a manufacturing environment and proficiency in forklift operation to assist with material handling.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

TASKS:

  • Inspect incoming imported goods and finished paper products to verify compliance with quality specifications
  • Perform routine and specialized quality tests (e.g., weight, dimensions, packaging integrity, product specifications, and barcode verification)
  • Accurately document inspection results, maintaining organized and up-to-date quality records
  • Communicate quality issues promptly to management to ensure timely resolution
  • Operate a forklift to move, stage, or transport pallets and materials as needed for testing and inspection
  • Ensure all testing and measuring equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition
  • Organize and maintain a clean and efficient QC area, ensuring all materials are repacked, palletized, and moved to the final staging area
  • Receive and inspect all returned goods and document quality findings to management
  • Follow all safety and quality procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Participate in continuous improvement, problem-solving, and training initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

 

1–2 years of experience in quality control, manufacturing, or paper production preferred. Knowledge of quality inspection techniques and basic testing instruments. Proven experience in forklift operation required.  Must pass company-specific forklift certification upon hire. High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical degree is a plus. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Basic computer skills, including data entry and familiarity with Microsoft Excel or similar programs. Proficiently use handheld scanners to accurately record track material movements. Understanding of production procedures. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear). Analytical skills and attention to detail. Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers. Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals. Must work effectively with others. Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules/shifts. Maintains a positive attitude and contributes to a positive work environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

The employee is required to carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, sit, and stand for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently lift, maneuver, and/or pivot up to 50 pounds. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Must wear all required personal protective equipment in designated areas and use necessary care to avoid placing self and others in an unsafe environment. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear, concise and effective manner with co-workers, company representatives, management, and staff in face-to-face, one-on-one and group settings. Tolerate inclement weather, including heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled.
