Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead TPT Membership Representative has a passion and knowledge around TPT's programming and mission, high energy, professional and engaging communication skills, and a strong drive for results. Flexible schedules and performance incentives possible while working at the Minnesota State Fair.
RATE OF PAY: $22.00/hour plus an opportunity for added bonus commission pay.
LOCATION and SCHEDULED HOURS: This position will work primarily at the State Fair Grounds. Shifts will be approximately 8 hours daily (35 to 40 hours weekly) and are predominantly outside, with access to water, shade, and air conditioning as needed. Applicants must be available at least 10 days between August 24 through September 7, including weekends. This is approximately 35 to 40 hours per week.
August 24 and 25: These days will be spent onsite at TPT's Lowertown office from approximately 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
August 27 through September 7: These days will be at the State Fair Grounds in designated shifts between the hours of 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Fundraising (90% of time)
Use strong professional sales and fundraising skills to help TPT continue its mission by
  • Providing onsite guidance to Membership Representatives and acting as a point of contact liaison to Fundraising Manager when Manager is offsite.
  • Identifying goal setting and implementation during onsite fundraising shifts.
  • Warmly greeting, and sharing TPT's mission, programming and resources to fair attendees.
  • Assisting prospect members and current TPT members with questions in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Accurately assisting with membership data entry into an online web form.
  • Recognizing and responding quickly and professionally to any unexpected situations.
  • Consistently and reliably fulfilling work schedule.

Other duties as assigned (10% of time)
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1-2 years of experience leading teams and acting as shift supervisor
  • Familiarity and love of TPT and PBS programming and resources
  • Able to quickly and clearly learn and articulate the benefits of becoming a TPT member to fair-goers
  • Sales or fundraising experience is required
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to tailor communication to meet audience needs
  • Basic computer skills
  • Accurate data entry and typing skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in various types of weather

Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Proven track record in sales with a strong ability to meet and exceed targets.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and distribute materials
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other team members, TPT members, and the public community.
