Job description

Cardiology Associates of Altoona is seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic cardiology team. As a Nurse Practitioner specializing in cardiology, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients with a variety of cardiovascular conditions, ranging from common heart disease to complex cardiovascular disorders. You will work collaboratively with cardiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure exceptional patient outcomes and a compassionate care experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical examinations, health history, and diagnostic testing.
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on cardiovascular diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, stress tests, echocardiograms, blood work).
  • Diagnose and manage a variety of cardiology-related conditions such as hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and more.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including pharmacologic interventions and lifestyle recommendations.
  • Perform procedures as appropriate, including but not limited to, injections, vein ablations, and other cardiovascular interventions.
  • Educate patients and their families on managing chronic conditions, preventive care, medication adherence, and lifestyle changes to improve heart health.
  • Provide follow-up care and monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, nursing staff, and support personnel to ensure coordinated care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and the organization's policies.
  • Participate in clinical meetings and continuing education opportunities to stay current with the latest advancements in cardiology.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (ACNP, FNP, or other relevant certification).
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in a cardiology or other specialized medical field.
  • Strong understanding of cardiovascular diseases, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
  • Excellent clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in cardiology or related specialty.
  • Experience with advanced cardiology procedures and technologies.
  • Knowledge of patient management software and electronic health records (EHR).
