Job Summary
Assists in recruitment, plans and provides appropriate instruction, monitors and assesses student progress with teacher developed and state approved measurement instruments. Maintains AEL student records and reports progress data for "Texas Educating Adults Management System" (TEAMS) entry in accordance with program policies.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
Bachelor's degree required
Teacher certification
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of effective instructional strategies for adult learners, command of English language, ability to communicate effectively, strong organizational skills, basic computer skills including proficient use of the internet, email, and word processing software
Experience
Experience teaching core academic subjects (Math, English, Social Studies, Science), use of TEAMS and Test of the Adult Basic Education (TABE) assessments preferred
AEL experience preferred
Major Responsibilities
1. Maintain student records in accordance with AEL program policies.
2. Plan and provide appropriate learner-centered instruction based on interview, assessment, and desired learner outcomes.
3. Participate in AEL staff development opportunities, including required workshops and pre-service activities.
4. Utilize AEL program curriculum in compliance with state content standards.
5. Advise and guide students as needed to establish and accomplish personal goals and meet AEL program requirements.
6. Monitor and document AEL student progress in accordance with program requirements.
7. Submit AEL program required documentation and reports in a timely manner for payroll and TEAMS entry.
Minor Responsibilities
1. Assist with AEL program evaluation, student recruitment, and other duties as assigned.
2. Refer AEL students to appropriate support services as needed.
