Position: Slitter Operator

Location: Waco, TX
Schedule: Rotating 8-Hour Shifts
Pay Rate: $23.02/hour
Shift Differential: Additional $1.00/hour for 2nd and 3rd shift hours

  • 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM

  • 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Summary Description

The Slitter Operator I is responsible for operating slitting, core cutting, and roll-handling equipment to produce finished products that meet customer specifications. This position supports production flow through machine operation, material handling, quality inspections, and accurate documentation while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, food safety, and efficiency.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Set up and operate slitting, core cutting, and roll-wrapping equipment.

  • Cut cores to required sizes and ensure the appropriate materials are available for upcoming slitting jobs.

  • Palletize finished rolls and safely move completed products to designated finished goods areas.

  • Perform required quality checks before, during, and after production runs.

  • Review job requirements and customer specifications to ensure finished products meet expectations.

  • Conduct final inspections of finished rolls before release.

  • Follow established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), 5S, and DTM requirements.

  • Complete required production and quality data entry using AC4D and Quality systems.

  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.

  • Communicate machine status, job information, quality concerns, and production updates during shift changes.

  • Assist with scheduled preventive maintenance activities.

  • Submit work orders for equipment issues, repairs, or maintenance needs.

  • Safely operate material-handling equipment as trained and authorized.

  • Follow all established food safety and allergen-control requirements.

  • Immediately report safety concerns, incidents, equipment issues, and quality concerns.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

  • Participate in Global Performance System (GPS) activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
