Job description

This position focuses on managing and maintaining accurate inventory records of raw and finished materials, ensuring smooth coordination and communication within the team and related departments.

This job consists of monitoring hourly inventory of finished materials, raw materials of trailers within the lot, coordination of movement of materials, reconciliation of trailer movement, data entry in various inventory systems and control sheet, verification of inventory levels through written, verbal and radio communication with shipping coordinator, scale house, planner and shipping supervisor. Monitor and maintain production speeds and quality of finished product by ensuring inventory levels remain adequate. Keep the department clean, uncluttered and free of debris throughout the shift. Ability to work independently with little to no supervision and recognize potential hazards.

Participates as a member of the Team. Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T. practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues, e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Read, understand and follow all Standard Work Instructions (S.W.I.) and utilize Lean rules and principles. Work safely following all Simmons policies and requirements. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives: This position description is intended to guide the activities of this position and is not intended to limit the thinking and creativity of the person to the work or is it intended that this describes all the work that may be required of the person in this position.

Physical Activities: Ability to work in a wet, noisy, dusty, humid, hot or cold environment.  Ability to walk and stand on feet for more than 10 hours per shift.  Ability to climb stairs / fixed and vertical ladders occasionally, It requires upper body and arm strength due to frequently claiming vertical ladders and having to pull up your own weight and not afraid of Hights. Requires occasional bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to identify and use PPE in accordance with SDS sheets.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, safety footwear, H2S monitor, Reflective vest.

Travel: None

Technical Experience: Intermediate software application skills

Minimum Education: Ability to Read, Write and do basic Math.
