Job description

Pay:  $20.00-$22.00/hr. 

Jacksons is seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant with a high level of skills in Microsoft Excel and data manipulation to join our team. If you’re reliable and eager to learn, then this is the right job for you! The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who can rise to the challenge.  Under limited supervision, this position will conduct complex discrepancy research; process invoices, process/post customer payments and collect past due receivables on assigned customer accounts by means of standard communication both internally and externally in a fast-paced environment.

Shift:  Full-time Monday - Friday

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, compile, and sort documents for data entry into accounting systems.
  • Evaluate source documents for accuracy, reconcile and verify data for entry, and modify where necessary.
  • Process and create customer invoices, daily EFT settlements and post customer payments.
  • Set up new customer accounts, ensure receipt of account information and perform verbal confirmations with customer.
  • Process vendor invoices through accounts payable software to obtain payment approval according to company policy.
  • Communicate with vendors and resolve payment or billing issues.
  • Report on daily bank activity to management.
  • Process deposits including coding and posting payments.
  • Conduct account research and provide support for internal and external customers.
  • Other reconciliations, duties or special projects as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Prior accounts receivable, payable, or other accounting related experience preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook proficiency (Excel test may be required)
  • A history of providing excellent customer service and knowledge of collections.
  • A high degree of effectiveness with exceptional attention to detail, can complete work with minimal errors and are able to find solutions to issues.
  • Accurate data entry, with strong analytical skills and ability to multitask.
  • A high level of productivity – You work efficiently, are well organized, and prioritize work properly to meet demands.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Effectiveness in working both as a team and independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong initiative, problem solving, and resolution skills
