Status: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8-5pm

Position Summary:

Reports to the designated supervisor. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.

Essential Functions:

  • Type correspondence, reports and letters.
  • Proofread material to verify accuracy.
  • Maintain records and files.
  • Maintain appropriate office supplies for the department.
  • Operate office equipment, including computers.
  • Log and distribute incoming mail, prepare outgoing mail, answer telephone and convey messages.
  • Operate telephone communications and mail handling as assigned.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year clerical or related experience including word processing and computer data entry preferred.
  • Valid drivers' license in the state of Mississippi or Louisiana with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements:

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
