Scheduled Bi-Weekly Hours: 0

Position Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the unit assigned and meets the communication needs of the patient (family, departmental staff and medical staff). Supports the nursing staff by performing specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient. Assist and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Maintains patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and respects patient's rights.
Responsibilities:
• Performs purposeful hourly rounding including: Pain, Position, Personal needs, and Possessions
• Promptly answers telephone/call lights in a polite manner and relaying pertinent information to the appropriate staff
• Assists nursing staff with patient care by making patient beds, giving baths, passing waters, feeding patients, providing oral care, accurate Intake & Output, assisting with mobilization/ambulation, daily weights, performing bedside glucose testing and obtaining vital signs and any other duties assigned by the RN
Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program, or 6 months experience as a Nursing Assistant in a Healthcare facility, or completion of fundamentals if enrolled in an Accredited School of Nursing program
  • BLS Certification
  • Knowledge of keyboard/computer
  • Data entry experience
  • Medical terminology knowledge
Preferred:
  • Successful completion of a Nurse Aide training program
  • Current State of Michigan CNA certification
  • Previous work experience or training as a Unit Clerk and Nurse Aide
  • Previous data entry experience
