Job description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and hands-on Assistant Retail Sales Manager to join our team. This role balances daily retail operations with critical backend inventory and financial management. The ideal candidate will combine strong retail executionโ€”including cashiering, data entry, and margin optimizationโ€”with a deep understanding of production animal agriculture to effectively serve our farming and livestock clientele.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Operations & Customer am -:Service

  • Operate point-of-sale (POS) systems, handle cash and card transactions accurately, and manage daily drawer reconciliation.
  • Provide expert product recommendations and solutions to customers regarding livestock feed, health products, and agricultural supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor.

Inventory & Financial Management

  • Data Entry & Inventory Control: Accurately enter incoming shipments, vendor invoices, and inventory adjustments into the retail management system.
  • Margin Setting & Pricing: Analyze product costs, monitor market trends, and strategically set retail margins to maximize profitability while remaining competitive.
  • Monitor stock levels and collaborate with the Store Manager to order high-demand agricultural products.

Logistics & Heavy Lifting

  • Safely operate a hi-lo (forklift) to unload delivery trucks, move pallets, and organize warehouse storage.
  • Load heavy products (feed bags, supplements, equipment) into customer vehicles.
  • Regularly lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in production animal agriculture (beef, dairy, swine, poultry, or small ruminants) OR a Bachelorโ€™s/Associateโ€™s degree in Animal Science, Animal Agriculture, or a closely related field.
  • Equipment: Proven ability to operate a hi-lo/forklift safely (certification preferred, or willingness to certify upon hire).
  • Physical Stamina: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs consistently throughout the day and stand for extended periods.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with retail POS software, basic data entry, and Excel (or similar spreadsheet software for margin analysis).
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including weekends and peak agricultural seasons.
    Hours Tuesday 9 am - Friday 5:30 pm , sat 8am - 2 pm, with a rotating Saturday every month
