Accounts Payable Specialist
Laurel, MS (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $26.00 - $30.00 per hour
Employment Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for an onsite opportunity in Laurel, Mississippi. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and is comfortable managing both manual and digital invoice processing. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting daily accounts payable operations, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
Responsibilities
  • Process high volumes of vendor invoices through both manual and electronic workflows
  • Match purchase orders, receipts, and invoices while ensuring proper coding and approvals
  • Manage invoice entry and payment processing in accordance with company policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries, payment issues, and account discrepancies
  • Review AP aging reports and vendor statements to identify outstanding items and resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including accrual calculations and reporting
  • Generate reports and provide analytical support to leadership regarding AP activity and trends
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure timely processing of transactions
  • Support general administrative and office-related responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
Required:
  • 3+ years of Accounts Payable experience in a high-volume environment
  • Experience processing both manual and electronically submitted invoices
  • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of accounts payable processes and basic accounting principles
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive vendor relationships
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software
