Job description

ASSIGNMENT:

Quality Department Clerical / Data Entry Volunteer

DEPARTMENT:

Quality Improvement

OBJECTIVE:

To support the Quality Department by accurately entering data from paper-based forms into designated electronic databases, maintaining organized and confidential records, and assisting Quality leadership with routine clerical and administrative tasks that support quality improvement initiatives at Danbury and New Milford Hospitals. This is a great role for a retired teacher or other recent retiree with comfortability with computer entry and database work.

MAJOR TASKS:

    • Accurately enter data from paper forms into electronic quality and performance databases
    • Scan, index, and electronically file quality-related documents according to departmental guidelines
    • Review forms for completeness, accuracy, and legibility; flag discrepancies or missing information for follow-up
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, provider, and organizational information in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
    • Organize, copy, and prepare documents for audits, reports, and quality improvement projects
    • Assist with general clerical duties including record maintenance, filing, and document tracking
    • Communicate effectively with Quality Department staff regarding task progress and clarification needs

DAYS & TIMES NEEDED:

Several days per month; weekday availability preferred. Schedule to be coordinated based on departmental needs and volunteer availability (e.g., morning or early afternoon shifts).

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of, and strict adherence to, hospital policies regarding confidentiality and privacy of patients, physicians, and staff
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Basic computer skills, including data entry and electronic document management
    • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
    • Reliable, organized, and able to work independently and attention to detail
    • Previous clerical, data entry, or healthcare experience preferred but not required

TRAINING:

On-the-job training, including orientation to Quality Department processes, electronic systems, and confidentiality requirements.
