Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the JuniorPayroll Administrator supports the payroll function by assisting withday-to-day payroll processing and administration. Working under the guidance ofthe Payroll Manager and Finance team, the Junior Payroll Administrator helps ensure payrollinformation is accurate, up to date, and processed in a timely and confidentialmanner. This role provides an opportunity to build foundational payrollknowledge across multiple provinces.

Education& Skills 

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, businessadministration, or a related field is an asset
  • 0-2 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or administrative rolesis preferred
  • Exposure to payroll systems (e.g., Payworks) or HRIS platforms is anasset but not required
  • Basic understanding of payroll concepts (e.g., earnings, deductions,statutory remittances) is an asset
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas) andMicrosoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to learn or basic understanding of Canadian payrolllegislation, including federal and provincial requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability tomeet deadlines
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn and develop payroll knowledge and skills

Responsibilities 

  • Support payroll processing activities by collecting, reviewing, andorganizing employee payroll information, including hours worked, salarychanges, vacation, leave, and other pay-related data.
  • Assist in processing regular payroll and off-cycle payments inaccordance with payroll calendars, timelines, and internal deadlines.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records for new hires,terminations, transfers, pay changes, banking updates, benefit deductions, andother routine changes, under direction.
  • Assist with payroll calculations including statutory deductions (e.g.,CPP, EI), benefits, and other payroll-related adjustments, as required.
  • Support compliance with payroll requirements across multiple provincesby assisting with data entry and basic validation of statutory holiday pay,taxable benefits, and deductions.
  • Help prepare payroll reports and documentation, including payrollregisters, remittance summaries, and reconciliations, for review by senior teammembers.
  • Assist with payroll year-end activities, including preparation of T4s,Records of Employment, and other required documentation, under supervision.
  • Support payroll audits and record-keeping requirements, ensuringdocumentation is complete, organized, and maintained in accordance with companypolicies.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure payroll data is accurateand up to date.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all payroll-related activities.
