Job Summary: The Diagnostic Data Entry Specialist (DDES) will adhere to and support our culture of compliance and safety by following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with attention to detail, accuracy, and professionalism at all times. Provide diagnostic data entry support to all pathologists as needed.
Schedule: Full time, 30+ hours. Availability Monday through Friday from 10:00am - 6:30pm. Open Flexibility to help cover in a team environment if needed.
Essential Functions: The DDES will receive diagnostic codes (alpha or alpha numeric codes) and / or additional test orders from the pathologist. The codes and orders will be shared by the pathologist either verbally or handwritten on pathology requisitions. The DDES will enter the orders into the LIS for other team members to access and process. The DDES will enter the diagnostic code into the LIS to produce a macro, a paragraph of diagnostic information. The DDES will close the case which will add the case to the queue for the pathologist to review and when appropriate, sign-out.

Education Required: High School Diploma/GED minimum required; Associate Degree preferred
Training Required (upon to hire): Training and a post training assessment for all role-applicable SOPs and Laboratory Compliance workflows must be completed after hire but before any laboratory work can be completed. A competency assessment will occur at one month before independent work is permitted. Role specific SOPs and Laboratory Compliance workflows are outlined in the Pathology Training Program Smartsheet.
Experience Required: Must be computer savvy and familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with strong communication, interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail. Previous medical data entry experience preferred.

Certification if Required: None required
Continuing Education Required: New Hire and Annual Training, including all required training sessions for all new and updated SOPs and updates to software systems as applicable.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional lab environment and may potentially be exposed to chemical, hazardous and biological samples. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to talk; hear; stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position also requires long duration of sitting and working on a computer. May require lifting up to 25 pounds without the aid of a device or a second person.
Travel: Employee may be expected to travel up to 25% or less of their time from their home office
Hourly Pay Range: $19 - $24.03
