Position: Civil Engineer - Transportation
Job status: Exempt-salaried
Location: Bozeman, MT

Seeking a Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead transportation design projects—including county and federal highways, municipal roadways, bridges, and construction administration in our local and surrounding community.

THE ROLE

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for the planning and designing of road and highway transportation infrastructure, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental considerations. The primary project focus will be on county roadways, federal highways, high-speed, multi-lane systems, and bridges. These responsibilities include:

  • Work with clients to understand their vision and scope of the project.
  • Analyze survey data, traffic patterns, and other relevant data to optimize road design and ensure functionality and safety.
  • Develop detailed plans for new roads, highways, and related infrastructure.
  • Leverage engineering design software to draft plans, drawings, and models.
  • Involved in the improvement of existing road infrastructure, ensuring its continued safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure that engineering designs comply with relevant DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Draft technical writing pieces such as Requests for Proposals, report writing, project specifications, and memorandums.
  • Provide construction administration services during the construction phase of the project.

YOUR STRENGTHS
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent ABET-accredited engineering program
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) professional designation required
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred or willing to obtain after-hire
  • 4+ years of US-based experience in highway and roadway civil design engineering for federal and state projects
  • Working knowledge of federal and state roadway regulations and processes
  • Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD and Bentley
  • Strong communicator both verbal and written
  • A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record is required for periodic travel
  • Project engineering experience desired
