Job description

Clean Air Engineering (CleanAir) is a leading global environmental engineering and consulting company, in business since 1972. CleanAir’s Source Emissions Testing team, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has an immediate opening for a full-time, entry-level Environmental Engineer/Scientist to support the growth of its source testing division.


CleanAir is looking for a motivated individual with the mindset to make a difference and help our clients achieve their environmental goals by applying cutting-edge measurement technologies and methodologies in a technical and efficient manner. The candidate must hold a degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Sciences, or a related field. The successful applicant will work closely with project managers to implement specific project tasks and will be part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists in a flexible work environment.


The position will involve the following key responsibilities:

  • Support projects by performing field services as outlined in associated test protocols and test methodology.
  • Apply cutting-edge technology to air emissions testing challenges.
  • Aid in the analysis, interpretation, communication, and reporting of data.
  • Maintain test equipment and instruments and perform necessary quality assurance activities.
  • Contribute to the development of an innovative team environment with a start-up culture.

Qualifications/Expectations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience with gas analysis measurement instruments is a plus
  • Willingness to travel for several weeks at a time to project sites both in the U.S. and internationally
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Familiarity with using hand tools and ability to work self-sufficiently
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to take the lead and accountability for new projects
