Job description

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, infrastructure, and data visualization to support our data-driven decision-making processes. The scope of this job includes collaborating with data scientists, analysts, solutions partners, and other stakeholders to increase data quality, accessibility, and security.

This is an entry-level role on-site at WellSky WHQ in Overland Park, KS. In-office attendance is mandatory. We want to bring in someone who is eager to learn - someone who is curious and coachable. There is a clear path to growing into a well-rounded data practitioner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, maintain, and leverage data pipelines, data models, reporting, and dashboards to solve business problems or assigned tasks in coordination with multiple teams.
  • Build understanding of technical best practices for data integration, data warehousing, and data visualization on cloud-based platforms.
  • Analyze and document workflows for complex data-related challenges by identifying patterns, trends, and anomalies in the data, and find ways to optimize data processing and storage to ensure data quality.
  • Contribute to the development and best practices of coding standards.
  • Adhere to WellSky core values, ensure PHI data security, and adapt to changing BI technologies.
  • LeverageAItools and platforms as an integral part of daily responsibilities to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows, and drive data-informed outcomes.
  • Grow into support rotations and handling deployments
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 0 - 2 years related work experience
  • Working proficiency in SQL

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience
  • Exposure to Python
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (Google Cloud / BigQuery)
  • Exposure to data transformation tools (dbt / Dataform)
  • Exposure to BI tools (Looker / Tableau / Power BI)
  • Exposure to Orchestration tools (Airflow / Prefect / Dagster)
  • Exposure to infrastructure as code (Terraform)

If you don't have any of these preferred qualifications, that's ok. This is what you'll grow into.

Job Expectations:

  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed
  • Must work in accordance with applicable security policies and procedures to safeguard company and client information
  • Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods of time
