Job description

The Pricing Analyst is responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining customer pricing strategies across transportation and logistics services. This position partners closely with Sales, Operations, Carrier Procurement, Finance, and Account Management to produce competitive, profitable pricing solutions that support revenue growth while protecting margin performance.

The Pricing Analyst evaluates transportation costs, market conditions, customer requirements, and operational capabilities to prepare pricing proposals, RFP responses, bid analyses, and strategic recommendations.

Pricing Analyst responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Develop pricing models and rate structures for truckload, LTL, intermodal, drayage, managed transportation, brokerage, warehousing, and value-added logistics services
  • Partner with Sales and Operations teams in developing customer-specific pricing solutions, ensuring that pricing is thorough, and every deadline is met
  • Coordinate and prepare RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs by analyzing customer shipment characteristics, lane data, service requirements, and anticipated operating costs
  • Upload rates for awarded lanes into systems of records; assists internal business units with any questions regarding rates
  • Supply the Carrier Souring team with lanes and targets to gather rating and capacity information for contract and spot opportunities
  • Monitor industry trends, carrier pricing activity, and market conditions to support strategic decision-making; leverage historical brokerage data to identify lane opportunities, test and validate pricing models, and communicate insights and recommendations with key stakeholders
  • Analyze complex problems and develop creative and effective solutions
  • Generate reports and analysis related to pricing performance, profitability, and cost efficiency

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in an analytical role supporting customers and operations within a 3PL brokerage environment; Previous operational experience within a logistics environment a plus
  • Experience supporting customer bids, RFQs, RFIs, or RFPs
  • Experience with transportation management systems (TMS); McLeod/Cargowise preferred
  • Experience with operational platforms such as(e.g., DAT One, Truckstop) and customer bid platforms (e.g.,E2Open,Transporeon,BlueYonder,Jaegger,) a plus
  • Strong understanding of multimodal freight transportation, including operational processes, carrier networks, market dynamics and customer service requirements across FTL, LTL, and Intermodal transportation
  • Knowledge of freight transportation pricing methodologies and rate structures, including market analysis, cost modeling, margin optimization, and customer pricing strategies
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and data interpretation skills, with the ability to identify trends, evaluate pricing and operational data, and provide actionable business recommendations
  • Ability to build relationships and work cross-functionally with business partners and key stakeholders
  • Proficient in both written and oral communication. Capable of clearly and effectively conveying information and presenting to internal and external business partners
  • Ability to multitask and shift focus in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving logistics environment with rapidly changing priorities, meet deadlines, work well under pressure, prioritize work and maintain discretion on confidential matters while maintaining a positive attitude and providing unmatched customer service
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and spreadsheet modeling, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and video conferencing tools (WebEx, Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance, with or without reasonable accommodation
