biBerk is building a cloud-first, API driven, dynamic insurance platform that enables customers to purchase insurance policies directly online. Expanding our team, we are seeking a skilled Data Product Developer who will develop deep familiarity with this platform and the existing data-driven processes that support it. Using that knowledge, you will analyze, identify, and help resolve data-related issues that arise from the state of data in our core environments-primarily Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB. 

Reporting to the Database Services Team Lead, and operating within an Agile SDLC environment, you'll play a key role bridging institutional knowledge between functional teams, enabling broader development efforts, and ensuring that critical processes are understood, documented, shared, and actionable across our technology stacks. 


Job Responsibilities

  • Contribute to sprint-based, iterative delivery using Azure DevOps.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve data issues across the organization's core technical environments, with primary focus on Azure SQL Database and Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Design, implement, and maintain data integration and transformation processes that keep data consistent, reliable, and usable across heterogeneous sources. 
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to define data requirements, SLAs, and quality expectations.
  • Support the delivery and operational health of data-related changes through CI/CD and production processes.
  • Create, optimize, and maintain data structures that support the organization's applications.
  • Help establish and uphold data standards, documentation, and shared understanding of the processes that move and shape data across the enterprise.

Required General Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience working with relational, and unstructured data.
  • 5+ Years of proven experience in an equivalent role
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • A customer focused, yet security-first mindset.
  • A quick learning self-starter with an inquisitive, curious nature.
  • An eagerness to delve deep to solve problems and identify inconsistencies and patterns present within prescribed data sets.

Required Technical Skills & Experience

  • Comfortable with Agile/Scrum ceremonies, methodologies and sprint-based delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in Azure Cosmos DB (SQL, API, partitioning, indexing, RU management)
  • Strong proficiency in Azure SQL Database (T-SQL, performance tuning, schema design)
  • Expertise in data modeling for both relational and semi-structured (JSON) data.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps: Boards, Repos (Git), Pipelines (CI/CD), and Artifacts.
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines with Azure Data Factory (Mapping Data Flows, Copy Activity, Stored Procedures, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Git, branching strategies, and code reviews.
  • Proficiency with Database Change Tracking Tools and Techniques
  • Proficiency with IDEs (Visual Studio / VS Code, etc.

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $100k - $120k per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
