INTRODUCTION:

AB Consulting GSS is a U.S.-based supplier of experienced technical talent to the manufacturing and construction industries. A major client is asking us to provide a Senior Electrical Superintendent to oversee electrical portions of a mission critical hyper-scale data center.

JOB SUMMARY:

The superintendent will oversee and coordinate electrical subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with project safety, schedule, scope, and quality. The superintendent will work in a plant construction environment under the direction of the clientโ€™s MEP Lead on site. This role requires strong electrical project expertise and excellent coordination skills with subcontractors, site supervisors, commissioning and quality teams, and end client engineers.

CONTRACT TYPE: 1099 Independent Contractor

LOCATION: Rockingham, NC

START DATE: As soon as possible, depending on availability

DURATION: 12-18 months with likely extension or transfer to other project

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Run meetings and actively drive electrical sub-contractors to ensure that their work is completed safely, on time, and to specification.
  • Anticipate and manage schedule risks to keep the project on track.
  • Ensure that LOTO and other safety protocols are strictly being met.
  • Thoroughly understand the design details, budget estimate, job scope, and schedule.
  • Read and understand electrical bid and construction packages, including scopes of work, specifications, and drawings.
  • Help to lead daily and weekly sub-contractor progress meetings.
  • Effectively manage communications between subcontractors, client engineers, and others to coordinate the work and resolve issues.
  • Review and approve subcontractor progress invoices.
  • Assure that all electrical work meets client requirements and specifications.
  • Check key deliverables such as scope of supply, quality, workmanship, and functionality to ensure that systems are ready for use.
  • Perform administrative tasks including schedule input, weekly progress reports, etc.
  • Sign-off on installations and make sure that punch list items are completed.
  • Review โ€œas-builtโ€ information to reflect any changes made during construction.
  • Standard working time will be (5) 10-hour days, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work during busier periods.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associateโ€™s or Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Construction Engineering (OR solid experience managing industrial electrical installations).
  • Minimum of 8 years of electrical project oversight experience in similar facility construction technology, methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures. 
  • Prior experience managing electrical portions of industrial project scopes of at least
  • $100M in value.
  • Must be able to actively oversee subcontractors to align with and meet the installation
  • schedule.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with cross-functional
  • teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction processes, laws, standards, and regulations.
  • Successful background maintaining high safety standards and delivering quality
  • outcomes.
  • Strong electrical background in industrial construction or manufacturing is required.
  • Good understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and change management.
  • Experience in the data center industry is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Technical familiarity with the following types of facilities systems:
  • Medium-, and low-voltage industrial power distribution, including substations
  • and switchgear, transformers, bus ducts, cables, cable trays, and
  • Terminations
  • Power and control systems for fire alarms, boilers, air compressors, HVAC,
  • pumps, lifting systems, etc.
  • Industrial interior and exterior lighting
  • Fire protection, cameras, data, and security systems
  • Knowledge and experience with control system components and wiring would be beneficial. 
  • PLC programming will not be required.
