GCP Data Engineer Python & SQL

About the Role

The Senior Data Engineer Consultant is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines and architectures that deliver high‑quality, reliable, and governed data for analytics and decision‑making. In this role you will closely collaborate with product analytics and infrastructure teams to create automated, maintainable, and high‑performing data systems within cloud environments. Success in this position requires deep technical expertise in data modeling, data engineering design patterns, and cloud‑native technologies. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong architectural mindset, maintains exceptional coding standards, and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills to enable effective collaboration with both engineering and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable GCP data pipelines using BigQuery, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
  • Architect efficient ETL/ELT processes and data modeling using star, snowflake, and data vault techniques.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
  • Implement Apache Airflow/Cloud Composer orchestration for complex workflows.
  • Develop monitoring, alerting, and data quality frameworks.
  • Conduct code reviews and create comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Build automated testing and validation pipelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Data Engineering, or related field.
  • 7 years of data engineering experience.
  • 5 years of hands‑on GCP experience.
  • Expertise in Python, advanced SQL, BigQuery, Dataflow, and Apache Airflow/Cloud Composer orchestration.
  • Strong data modeling and design pattern knowledge.
  • Docker and Kubernetes deployment experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification.
  • Databricks and Apache Beam experience.
  • Media/entertainment or enterprise analytics experience.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
