Data Engineer Airflow Jobs in Washington (NOW HIRING)

This role is a strong fit for an engineer who likes building systems that do real work every day. You will design and sustain Apache Airflow workflows, partner with data and platform teams on scalable automation patterns, and strengthen reliability across Linux-based, containerized environments. The work is practical, visible, and tied to mission delivery, with a healthy mix of workflow design, troubleshooting, automation, and performance improvement.

• Build and maintain Apache Airflow DAGs for data pipelines and automation
• Partner with data engineers and platform teams to design scalable workflow patterns
• Harden workflows for reliability, retries, and clear operational visibility
• Automate repetitive tasks with Bash and Python
• Support containerized execution and deployments across Linux environments
• Troubleshoot workflow failures, performance issues, and upstream dependencies
• Document pipelines and operating procedures so teams move faster

• Clearance: Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph, must be active. We do not have the ability to sponsor clearances
• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen. We cannot sponsor visas
• This role aligns to Software Engineer (SWE), Level 2
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, or related, plus 3 years of SWE experience
• Or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related, plus 5 years of SWE experience
• Or 7 years of SWE experience in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity

• Linux CLI experience and strong comfort with Linux tools
• Bash scripting to automate manual processes
• Recent Python and Java development experience
• Distributed processing experience with Apache Spark
• Container experience with Docker, Podman, or containerd

• Atlassian tools experience, Jira and Confluence
• AWS cloud services and infrastructure familiarity

Compensation Range: $155,000.00 - $205,000.00

The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role.
