Aerospace & Industrial Surface Finishing QC Technician — West Chicago, IL

You like solving puzzles with micrometers. You’re precise, curious, and committed to getting coatings right the first time. If that sounds like you, Ionbond’s West Chicago Coating Center is looking for a QC Technician who ensures every coated part meets exacting standards.

What you’ll do
  • Inspect coated components for thickness, adhesion, surface finish, hardness (substrate and coating), dimensional accuracy, and visual appearance.
  • Record inspection data accurately following established methods and procedures.
  • Assist with audits: control plan audits, product audits, 5S, HSE, QMS self-assessments, and customer audit forms.
  • Maintain document/data control and keep daily inspection logs current.
  • Care for lab equipment, keep your station clean, and operate within safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with operators and supervisors to resolve quality or workflow issues.
  • Set up precision inspections using gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Lead by example on 5S improvements in QC and other assigned areas.
  • Support other tasks as assigned.

What it takes
  • High School diploma required; Associate degree preferred
  • 2+ years of QC experience in a manufacturing setting
  • PC proficiency (Microsoft Office), strong organization, and time management
  • Pass a color vision test and a math test
  • Able to sit/stand for extended periods; read 6-point font; discern color differences
  • Wear required PPE; excellent dexterity handling precision-machined parts
  • Sharp critical thinking and effective communication; comfortable in a fast pace
  • Read and follow instructions in English
