What jobs pay 200,000 a year in the USA?

For a Data Checker, reaching a $200,000 annual salary is uncommon, as this role typically earns between $40,000 and $70,000. Higher salaries in data-related fields often involve roles like data scientists, data engineers, or senior analysts, which require advanced skills, experience, and sometimes certifications. These positions may include additional responsibilities such as managing large datasets or developing data models.

What are Data Checkers?

Data Checkers are professionals responsible for reviewing, verifying, and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data within databases, spreadsheets, or reports. They typically compare data entries against source documents, identify errors or discrepancies, and make necessary corrections. Their work is crucial for maintaining data integrity, supporting data-driven decisions, and ensuring compliance with organizational or regulatory standards. Data Checkers may work across various industries, including finance, healthcare, research, and logistics.

What are some common challenges faced by Data Checkers, and how can these be effectively managed?

Data Checkers often encounter challenges such as identifying inconsistencies in large datasets, maintaining accuracy under tight deadlines, and adapting to varying data formats. Managing these challenges effectively requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with data validation tools, and clear communication with team members to resolve discrepancies. Many Data Checkers also benefit from developing efficient workflows and regularly updating their technical skills to keep pace with evolving data management practices.

What are the top 3 skills for a data analyst?

A data checker, similar to a data analyst, needs strong analytical skills to interpret data accurately, proficiency in data management tools like Excel or SQL, and attention to detail to identify errors and inconsistencies. Familiarity with data visualization and basic statistical knowledge also enhance their effectiveness in ensuring data quality.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Checker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Checker, you need excellent attention to detail, proficiency in data entry, and a foundational understanding of data management principles, often supported by a high school diploma or associate degree. Familiarity with spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel, database systems, and sometimes data validation tools is typically required. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and clear communication set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure data accuracy, minimize errors, and support efficient information processing critical for business operations.

What is the difference between Data Checker vs Data Analyst?

AspectData CheckerData Analyst
Required CredentialsHigh school diploma or equivalent; certifications like Microsoft Excel or data validation toolsBachelor's degree in data science, statistics, or related fields; often advanced certifications
Work EnvironmentData entry centers, quality assurance teams, or administrative officesBusiness offices, research departments, or consulting firms
Employer & Industry UsageUsed across industries for data accuracy and quality controlUsed for data interpretation, reporting, and strategic decision-making

While both roles involve working with data, Data Checkers focus on verifying data accuracy and quality, often with entry-level skills. Data Analysts interpret data to provide insights and support decision-making, requiring more advanced analytical skills and education. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job search focus.

What jobs pay 500,000 a year in the US?

High-paying jobs that can reach or exceed $500,000 annually include executive roles such as CEOs, CFOs, and other C-suite positions, as well as successful entrepreneurs, top-tier investment bankers, and certain specialized medical professionals like neurosurgeons. These roles typically require extensive experience, advanced skills, and often involve leadership responsibilities or high-risk, high-reward environments.

Is 30 too late for data science?

Data checkers and data scientists can enter the field at any age, including 30 or older. Success depends on acquiring relevant skills such as programming, statistics, and data analysis, often through courses or certifications, regardless of age.

Job description

Job Title: Principal Data Compliance Engineer (Utility Infrastructure)
Role Overview
We are seeking a high-level Principal Data Compliance Engineer to lead the development of mission-critical, auditable data pipelines supporting state and federal regulatory reporting. In this role, you will be responsible for building robust data validation frameworks and ensuring that large-scale datasets meet strict compliance standards for reproducibility and lineage. You will act as a bridge between technical engineering and regulatory subject matter experts, creating the "Gold Standard" for traceable data outputs in a highly scrutinized utility environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Pipeline Architecture: Design and maintain advanced, platform-native data pipelines specifically for regulatory compliance reporting.
• Validation Frameworks: Build and oversee automated data checker and validation frameworks to ensure completeness, consistency, and reconciliation across large-scale datasets.
• Advanced Transformations: Develop high-performance transformations using PySpark and Spark SQL to process and curate complex infrastructure and asset-based data.
• Audit & Traceability: Implement rigorous data lineage and reproducibility protocols to ensure all outputs are "audit-ready" and meet government regulatory standards.
• Logic Validation: Partner with Compliance SMEs and stakeholders to translate complex legal and safety requirements into precise technical validation logic.
• Operational Integrity: Lead operational monitoring, issue triage, and data quality remediation to maintain the integrity of compliance datasets.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Technical Mastery:
• Expert-level Python, PySpark, and Spark SQL.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade data platforms (e.g., Palantir Foundry or similar high-lineage environments).
• Proven track record building Data Quality (DQ), QA, or automated validation frameworks.
• Industry Knowledge:
• Deep understanding of compliance, audit, or regulatory reporting requirements.
• Experience with Ontology-driven or curated datasets.
• Attributes: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to ensure full data reconciliation and exception flag management in a high-stakes environment.
Preferred Credentials
• Prior experience with utility-specific regulatory compliance (e.g., OEIS or similar safety infrastructure reporting).
• Experience with specialized platform application builders (e.g., Foundry Workshop).
• Background in asset-based domains or utility infrastructure.
