The Manager, Safety, Risk & Security manages the implementation of the approved Iron Mountain Data Center security strategy and life safety program for their assigned Data Center(s); to mitigate risk, safeguard the organization's human and physical assets, intellectual property, integrity, and Brand reputation, while ensuring continuity of operations under the leadership of an assigned Global Security Director and in close collaboration with the Operations leader of the designated site.
The Manager, Risk, Safety & Security executes daily management of the Data Center security program to align it with corporate objectives, policies and standards. They recruit, organize and manage, where applicable, an on-site uniformed, proprietary armed security team. They are also responsible for their performance management, education and training related to all physical security and safety controls, processes and daily operational management as well as managing the Shipping and Receiving function at the site. In collaboration with the Director, the position is also responsible for maintaining a proactive relationship with local first responders and federal agencies.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage physical security operations, access control, CCTV, and other physical security systems for assigned Iron Mountain Data Center(s) and provide support for the Iron Mountain business unit to ensure safety and security of personnel, customers, visitors, vendors, property, and assets of the company.
  • Manage an assigned uniformed, armed security team. Each site may require a staff of proprietary Safety & Security Officers or contract security staff, who are responsible for the daily operations and security standards on site 24/7. The Manager, Safety, Risk & Security is responsible for all training, schedules, certifications and quality control of the unformed service program. Ensure that all interactions with colleagues, contractors, customers and visitors are professional, service focused, and reflect positively on Iron Mountain.
  • Conduct incident response and investigations for assigned Data Center locations in coordination with designated Corporate investigative resources.
  • Manage, administer and coordinate DOD or other industrial security programs and other security activities to ensure compliance with government and company security policies and procedures.
  • Act as Safety & Security liaison on site, to assist where needed in coordinating cross functional efforts with Operations, Legal, HR, Audit & Compliance, InfoSec and Senior Enterprise Management to provide thorough analysis of security risks and the development of appropriate mitigating strategies.
  • Coordinate local Data Center related security programs, including business continuity planning, workplace violence initiatives and bomb threat procedures at Data Centers to include training, exercises, and response plans. As appropriate, coordinate first aid and AED training and response.
  • Manage, in collaboration with other Corporate resources, the emergency action plans, training, testing, and crisis management activities as well as inclement weather plans at the Data Center.
  • In collaboration with the Corporate and IMDC compliance manager, manage audits and ensure site compliance to IMDC and corporate standards.
  • Perform effectively as part of a shared responsibility team with the Data Center Manager and other functional team leads.
  • Establish and maintain positive, proactive relationships with the local first responder community, as well as appropriate Federal agencies, to ensure that IMDC is aware of any changes in the threat environment and is prepared to respond appropriately in the event of a fire, medical emergency, security or public safety incident.

Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies:
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible security management experience, preferably in a Corporate environment that included data center responsibilities.
  • Extensive experience in design and project management of security systems; including access control, CCTV and fire suppression.
  • Familiarization with industry and regulatory standards; including ISO 27001, PCI, FISMA (US Only), and SOC2.
  • Experience collaborating with other Corporate functions to implement policy and procedures to protect company personnel and assets is preferred.
  • Candidates should have the skills and knowledge to assist in direct customer facing activities.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, administrative, and communication skills, as well as strong leadership traits.
  • Must be experienced with computers, able to create and manipulate spreadsheet and database information, able to understand basic computer networking and database concepts, knowledge of automated security intrusion detection, access control, CCTV, lighting and other related systems and equipment, possess an understanding of life safety issues, have a general understanding of fire suppression systems.
  • The ability to obtain security clearance via government or other agency background check will be required for customer support.
  • Active or prior US Government TS or higher security clearance highly desirable.
  • Applicants must meet all requirements, including customer-contracting requirements, which will require U.S. Citizenship.
