Job description

About the Role:

We are hiring Data Center Operations Technicians (L1 and L2 levels) to support critical data center deployment, maintenance, and infrastructure operations in Reno, NV and Portland, OR. This role is responsible for maintaining uptime, executing server deployments, managing layer-1 physical infrastructure, and resolving hardware/network incidents.


Key Responsibilities:

  • L1 Scope (Deployment & Physical Layer):
  • Perform rack and stack of enterprise servers, switches, and rack power infrastructure.
  • Execute structured cabling standards (copper/fiber bundling, routing, labeling, and optic verification).
  • Conduct server smoke testing, initial power-on validations, and physical audits.
  • Manage data center floor inventory, equipment receiving, and audit readiness.
  • L2 Scope (Troubleshooting & Logical Layer):
  • Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on server, hardware, and network connectivity failures.
  • Manage vendor RMA workflows for failed drives, memory modules, system boards, and optics.
  • Execute firmware upgrades, out-of-band IP configurations, and remote access setups.
  • Support network administrators with pre-configuration validation and link testing.


Qualifications:

  • L1: 1–2+ years in data center, lab, or structured cabling environments.
  • L2: 3+ years troubleshooting enterprise server hardware (x86), Linux CLI, and networking equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber optics, Cat6 cabling, transceivers, and cable management standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work standard data center shift rotations.
  • CompTIA Server+, Network+, or Cisco certifications preferred.
