Job Description

The Assistant Director of Data Center Operations supports the oversight, management, and day-to-day operations of enterprise-grade data center environments to ensure high availability, reliability, and operational excellence. This role partners closely with the Director of Data Center Operations to manage critical infrastructure, coordinate maintenance and capacity planning, enforce security and compliance standards, and support incident response and disaster recovery efforts. The Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in driving operational efficiencies, supporting cross-functional teams, and ensuring data center services meet mission-critical and organizational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the management and operation of data center facilities, infrastructure, and systems
  • Assist in overseeing power, cooling, physical security, and environmental controls within the data center
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical infrastructure
  • Coordinate maintenance, upgrades, and capacity planning activities
  • Support disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response planning
  • Partner with IT, network, security, and cloud teams to support enterprise operations
  • Monitor operational metrics, service levels, and infrastructure performance
  • Support vendor management, contract coordination, and service provider oversight
  • Assist in documenting policies, procedures, and operational standards
  • Ensure compliance with security, safety, and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in data center operations, IT infrastructure, or facilities management

  • Experience supporting mission-critical or high-availability systems
