General Motors' AV Infrastructure Site Engineering team is seeking an Data Center Operations Engineer to help us build, operate, and scale our data center and lab footprint.

Data Center Operations Engineer at General Motors bring niche knowledge and experience not only in the traditional data center domain but developing industry leading data collection infrastructure as well as custom liquid cooling solutions for General Motors's AV development.

Whatyou'llbe doing:

  • Responsible fordesignand developing solutions to physical builds of General Motors' AV infrastructure.

  • Ownership of any "on the ground' maintenancerequired ofGM's infrastructure across multiple partner teams nationwide.

  • Collaborating and scaling liquid cooled server fleet across GM's data centers.

  • Support integration of Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) Systems through issue identification, triage, configuration & code debugging, and root cause analysis.

  • Monitoring and responding to environmental alarms (power, cooling, and leak detection).

  • Work with cross-functional teams to drive hardware and software changes by balancing short-term improvements andlong termsolutions to resolve issues. Issues are varied, including network configuration issues, toAV sensor connectivity issues, car module connectivity, etc.

  • Running hardware diagnostics and replacing failing partsin a timely manner.

  • Participate in on-call rotation for mission critical services.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelors Degree in related field or relevant work experience

  • Experience working in Data Center Operations for 4+ years or related field

  • CompTIA Server Plus, CompTIA Network+, or CCNA certification or Equivalent work experience

  • Considerable background in infrastructure build: structured cabling, MDF/IDF/MPOE buildout, as well as power and cooling

  • Understanding of electrical and cooling systems with respect to data center environment

  • In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and infrastructure

  • Experience installing,monitoring, andmaintainingdata center equipment

  • Hands-on experience working with and debugging complex hardware systems

  • Outstanding ability to work as part of a team, provide support, and resolve errors

  • Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies

  • Proficiencyin detailing work processes

  • Willingness to work off hours as needed to support maintenance and incidents

  • Mentoring colleagues and maturing the program

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff and effectively work in team environment

  • Able toparticipatein on-call rotation

  • Ability to stand and crawl, duck, kneel,liftand move up to 50 pounds over short distances

  • Travel within metro area as needed

What Will Give YouACompetitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • 3+ years of experience working in automotive, robotics, consumer electronics, or aerospace industries.

  • Prior experience with vendor management

  • Hands-on experience with liquid cooled servers

  • Experience developing or working on an end-to-end robotics system.

  • Experience in interfaces between the vehicle platform, actuators, vehiclesoftwareand communication network.

  • Solid understanding of modern data center infrastructure management (DCIM) - Sunbird,Nautobot, or other related products

  • Effective leadership skills to drive standardization and efficiency across the team

  • Experience in Hardware in Loop environment - continuous bench testing

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Sunnyvale office three times per week, at minimum.

Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.

  • The salary range for this role: is$170,000 to $230,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
