Data Center Advisory and Program Oversight    

  • Data center consultant to provide leadership, advisory and deployment planning and oversight of the Siemens data center initiative.  Support activities to include:
    • Provide program management   of the data center initiatives, to include maintain a milestone schedule of DC deployments and consolidation activities.  
    • Assist in communication between Siemens data center stakeholders, team members and core technology vendors, and management
    • Ensure   identification of gaps, risks, blockers, needed escalations, and driving of committed schedules of the data center initiatives.
    • Data center physical and technical infrastructure deployment oversight and vendor management.
    • Data center workload assessments.
    • Site planning for data center space, physical infrastructure, power, cooling.
    • Continued development of data center deployment strategies based upon Siemens requirements.
    • Evaluation and sourcing of co-location services.
    • Migration planning
    • Throughout the program, perform general project management support activities including:
      • Participate in regular meetings with Siemens management to review projects status.
      • Facilitate and participate in planning and deployment meetings with core data center team members.
      • Ensure a development and maintenance of data center program milestone plans that includes critical path, equipment provisioning, deployment and migration.
      • Provide program reporting, status, charts, dashboards and Sr management reporting.

  • Detroit area DC deployment (co-lo) and migration from legacy DC
  • Expansion of existing Ireland data center
  • India  DC deployment (co-lo) and migration from legacy DC
  • CA Regional engineering campus consolidation 
  • Consolidation of ~20 global engineering lab sites  into regional data centers
  • Expansion of existing Oregon data center 
  • Deployment of a US West data center (colo)

 
Data Center Migration   Project Management

  • Leads efforts to plan, manage and oversee data center migration. To include deployment of data center infrastructure and migration of computing equipment and associated systems and business applications to new data center facilities. Manage and coordination of the Migration project office resources.
  • Works under the Client senior management and reports on activities and progress of the data center deployment and migration. Will be responsible for the data center IT Infrastructure deployment and the migration of systems, equipment and application and services. Communication and execution of migration planning processes within the broader IT Infrastructure and application migration teams and ensure production and quality of planning artifacts and deliverables and the planning and coordinate all IT Infrastructure and application migration cutover activities.

 
Primary Duties:

  • Develop and manage Migration project schedules, budgets, resources, change requests, escalation and risk assessment.
  • Execution of Project communication plan.
  • Ensure communication of migration methodologies, concepts and details to project team and management.
  • Work within a Program Office structure working closely with a Director of PMO, Operations and Infrastructure managers, technology integrators and IT team members to ensure quality and timely project delivery.
  • Understand the technical aspects of data center / IT infrastructure support and delivery, and ITSM principles.
  • Leverage strong technical PM background and understanding of tasks required to deliver multiple IT infrastructure projects and initiatives including network, platform and storage infrastructure.
  • Communicate technical concepts and details to project team and management.
  • Maintain a working understanding of the inter-dependencies between technical tasks.
  • Ensure appropriate/optimal engagement of delivery resources.
  • Develop high-level and detail project plans.
  • Ensure the scope and approach are understood by all project team members and stakeholders.
  • Produce project status reporting.
  • Direct and monitor work effort on a regular basis.
  • Identify and track key project milestones and measurement reporting (base-lining, critical path).
  • Monitor and communicate the progress of project delivery, to include status reporting of cost, schedule and assessment of risks/issues.
  • Negotiate and influence cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate resourcing levels are engaged and maintained throughout the course of the project life cycle.
  • Manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
