Position Purpose: The Facilities/Datacenter Engineer is responsible for supporting all StoneX offices and Datacenters. This role will support the physical installations of hardware in our Offices and Datacenters, manage office buildouts, resolve production issues, and manage electrical, mechanical, monitoring, and control systems. 

Primary Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with building the processes and procedures that ensure the data centers operate at maximum operational efficiency. These duties may include analyzing existing operating conditions, recommending new technologies, improving overall efficiency, and driving cost reduction through refactoring DC footprint configurations
  • Assist with coordinating access to Data centers for both internal and external engineers.
  • Assist with managing support contracts for StoneX global data centers, including sourcing and reviewing all external data center and office audits and reviewing any regular testing results to ensure ongoing integrity
  • Build and implement controls to proactively monitor power, cooling, and environment events and create trend reports to address issues. 
  • Manage the installation of various cross-connects and carrier circuits. The engineer must have extensive knowledge of different cable types, including copper and fiber optic cables to efficiently troubleshoot circuit issues
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and maintenance of infrastructure supporting data center operations
  • Analyze and resolve mechanical and electrical problems within the data centers.
  • Supervise sub-contractors and ensure all necessary preventative maintenance and emergency repairs are scheduled and performed
  • Directly interface with construction management teams, contractors and consultants for all phased data center construction commissioning, including integration and testing of new systems while maintaining critical systems online
  • Respond to facility emergencies as required, on call 24/7 as needed.
  • Manage Datacenter work orders by completing necessary documentation and scheduling of resources. This duty includes reviewing and updating data center documentation and assessing risk to the business. 

Tier2 Secondary Facilities Essential Responsibilities

  • Research, evaluate, and make recommendations to reduce expenses. 
  •  Evaluate lease or rental agreements, building maintenance, building improvements, furniture, and equipment for facility projects and report the feasibility and costs. 
  • Statewide travel is required.
  • Supervise office and equipment moves that require coordination with Smart-Hands. 
  • Coordinate efforts to ensure equipment and circuits are installed and properly working. Monitor the progress of orders.
  • Upkeep of facilities hardware.
  • Provide oversight, coordination, and records of facilities contractors for StoneX: HVAC, UPS, and emergency generator.
  • Respond to facility emergencies as required. Participate in an on-call 24/7 rotation.

  • A flexible work schedule to work evenings, weekends & holidays when necessary.  Compensation time will be provided.
  • Excellent working knowledge of hosting industry and data center best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to adhere to change control processes and willing to enforce datacenter security policies
  • Experience with electrical systems maintenance or refrigeration systems, repairs and troubleshooting, building controls, and safe work practices is a must

On call and emergency responsibilities

  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation supporting global offices and datacenters
  • Expected on-call frequency is approximately once every 4–5 weeks
  • Responding to incidents nights, weekends, and holidays is a must when called upon.
  • Travel after hours when required
  • Perform urgent troubleshooting and equipment replacement

Physical Requirements

  • Stand for extended periods
  • Lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Work in hot, noisy, confined environments
  • Climb ladders and work overhead
  • Ability to remove old equipment from production racks without issue

Working Environment

  • Hybrid - 4 days in office per week or Data Center

Hiring Salary Range $90,000.00 - $132,000.00 per year to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity and alignment with market data).Subject to business performance and recommendations of management, this role may be eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.This compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position, is offered.
