Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Strong working knowledge with servers and network hardware/components, copper and fiber infrastructure installations and testing, data center product support applications, software (Windows, Linux, SSH, RDP, Putty, etc.) configurations and data center infrastructure management (DCIM) related tools.
  • Complete cabling and installation in server, router, switch according to work orders as well as MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) orders in designated data centers, including devices receiving, labeling, racking, powering and network connection, configuration, troubleshooting and break-fixing.
  • Maintain a safe and secure operation environment by reporting any violations to the direct supervisor, adhere to security and safety of data protection protocols, error logging practices and support operating procedures.
  • Maintain asset management and compliance with audit, daily log tracking, fulfilling documentation, retention practices and inventory checking.
  • Provide smart-hands assistance at various sites within specified SLA (Service Level Agreement) response time.
  • Provide status reporting regarding data center service availability, performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Coordinate equipment/material receiving, shipping and RMA processing support when required.
  • Provide general cleaning on raised floor, cabinet/rack exterior surfaces, work benches and other areas as needed on a regular basis.
  • On-call duties as needed. Traveling for on-site service support or deployment when needed.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must beaction oriented– understand task priority and the urgency of meeting deadlines. Well-known who, when, how to troubleshoot networking systems onsite and hands-on hardware updates. Not only do you have ateam playermentality, but you are ready to infusepassioninto your work in internet networking.
  • Knowledge of networking, servers and OS. Understand TCP/IP.
  • Ability to use IDC hand tools.
  • Ability to lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs. Must be able to work at heights from a ladder and in noisy or confined space.
  • Ability to travel 20%+ of time when required.
  • Must be self-motivated, detail oriented, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvements.
  • Excellent communicationskills.
  • Ability to rotate shifts including holidays, off hours (i.e., graveyard shift), weekend and vacation.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree preferred.
  • More than 1 year of above IDC experience.
  • Previous managerial position in this category.
  • Any above-describe IDC qualifications, certifications or rewards.
