Structured Cabling Technician

Location: Connecticut

Employment Type: Contract

Overview

TEKsystems is seeking motivated Structured Cabling Technicians to support commercial low-voltage and network infrastructure projects throughout Connecticut. We are looking for technicians with experience pulling, routing, terminating, and testing copper and fiber cabling in commercial construction and active facility environments.

This is a great opportunity for candidates with cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, electrical, or data center experience who are looking to join a growing team and work on long-term projects.

Responsibilities
  • Pull, route, and install Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling
  • Terminate cables on patch panels, keystone jacks, and network hardware
  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, and conduit
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings
  • Label, dress, and organize cabling according to project standards
  • Perform cable testing and basic troubleshooting
  • Build and maintain IDF/MDF closets and equipment racks
  • Follow all safety and quality standards on-site
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete assigned tasks on schedule
Required Qualifications
  • Experience with structured cabling or low-voltage installations
  • Knowledge of Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic testing equipment
  • Experience working in commercial construction environments
  • Ability to work from ladders and lifts when required

Pay and Benefits
